IEC 61508:2010 — Gap Analysis
Functional Safety of Electrical/Electronic/Programmable Electronic Safety-related SystemsAbout IEC 61508:2010
IEC 61508:2010 (Edition 2.0) is the international generic standard for the functional safety of electrical, electronic and programmable electronic (E/E/PE) safety-related systems. It introduces the concept of Safety Integrity Levels (SIL 1-4), the safety lifecycle, hardware fault tolerance, and the management of functional safety. It is the parent standard from which sector-specific standards (IEC 61511 for process, IEC 62061 for machinery, ISO 26262 for automotive, etc.) are derived.
