OIC/SMIIC 1 is the most widely-referenced international Halal food standard, adopted by SMIIC (Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries) and applicable across the 57 member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. It sets out General Requirements for the entire halal supply chain — from sourcing of raw materials and slaughter of animals, through processing, hygiene, packaging, labelling, storage and transportation, to documentation and traceability.
